Hello Fall, Hello BHCS Families
A new school year has begun, and we are thrilled to welcome all of our BHCS students and families back to campus! This year, we have many exciting plans and goals, and we look forward to accomplishing them together with our students and families, building a year full of learning, growth, and exploration.
As always, BHCS continues to place strong emphasis on our core academic courses—immersive Chinese learning and mathematics—ensuring that every child develops a solid foundation in these essential areas. Our Chinese program is based on textbooks but goes beyond them to provide a richer learning experience, combining reading, writing, recitation, and cultural games with drama, role-play, public speaking, debates, idioms, and even music and performance. This brings language to life and builds both creativity and expression. We are reshaping our math sessions to go beyond workbook practice, with interactive teaching, flexible challenges, and deeper concept exploration—helping students strengthen skills, expand their thinking, and improve problem-solving.
At the same time, we recognize that this is an era of individuality and self-expression. That's why we are actively expanding our enrichment programs to help children explore their passions, discover themselves, and try new things bravely. This year, we are excited to offer Art Exploration & Foundation, Chorus Club, Piano & Violin Discovery, and our chess program, Master Moves, with more programs to be added based on the feedback of our parents—we are all ears!
In addition to enrichment programs, we are introducing the Flex Program, designed to encourage students to explore their fields of interest outside of BHCS, giving them opportunities to engage with more activities and broaden their horizons. We will also launch the “My Story · My Culture” series, a set of lectures featuring outstanding Chinese professionals from various fields who will share their growth experiences and life stories with our students. Through these exchanges, children will gain a deeper understanding of their cultural roots, find a sense of identity and strength, and be inspired to shape their own future.
We will also be adding cultural elements into recess activities, such as Chinese chess, paper cutting, shuttlecock kicking, and cultural trivia games, helping students experience the beauty of Chinese culture in a fun and engaging way.
At BHCS, we believe every child is a one-of-a-kind story—each with their own rhythm, spark, and path to follow. Our mission is not only to lay a strong academic foundation but also to nurture the whole child: creativity, curiosity, friendships, resilience, dreams, and voice.
We understand that no child shines in every subject—and that's the beauty of it. There may be an artist who struggles in math, an athlete who shies away from writing, a dancer uninterested in science, or a coder who struggles with expression. Each child carries a gift, waiting to be discovered.
Education has never been about filling a bucket; it is about igniting a spark—helping children, through experience, perception, and creation, to find a true connection with Chinese culture and their own identity, turning learning into a journey of active exploration and self-discovery.
Growth is a lifelong journey—not only for children, but also for parents and teachers. We are old enough to be patient with every step of progress, yet young enough to dare to explore new possibilities. We are committed to continually improving our professional teaching skills and broadening our perspectives on education. We warmly welcome all feedback and deeply appreciate your support as we grow together.
