Sports, Robots & Shoreline Adventures
Week 7 at camp brought a wave of excitement as our campers dove into two dynamic experiences: Sports Week and VEX IQ Robotics. From courts and bikes to coding and boating, the energy on campus was nonstop—and the memories we made will stick with us long after the summer ends.
For our Sports Week campers, the week started strong with a fun and active tennis session on Monday. With rackets in hand and plenty of enthusiasm, students learned the basics of serves and rallies while enjoying some friendly competition. The warm-up on the courts set the tone for a week filled with movement and teamwork.
Tuesday took us off-campus for a much-anticipated bowling field trip. Campers laced up their shoes and hit the lanes, cheering each other on and celebrating every strike, spare, and even the occasional gutter ball with laughter and encouragement. It was a great moment to build camaraderie and relax together in a different setting.

Back at camp on Wednesday, we switched gears to play pickleball—a fast-paced sport that was new to many of our campers. With a little instruction and a lot of enthusiasm, they quickly picked it up. Watching the kids run, volley, and cheer each other on made it clear: sports week wasn't just about physical activity—it was about building confidence, resilience, and connection.

On Thursday, we enjoyed the outdoors with a group biking adventure around Leo J. Ryan Park. Campers took to their bikes and cruised through the sunshine along the scenic waterfront, learning about bike safety, practicing coordination, and enjoying the freedom of the open path. The combination of fresh air, exercise, and beautiful views made it a moment of pure summer joy.

We wrapped up the week with an unforgettable field trip to Shoreline Lake on Friday. Campers got to choose their own boating adventure—kayak, rowboat, or pedal boat—and spent two hours gliding across the water with their teammates. The younger campers worked hard to paddle against the lake's gentle breeze, determined and laughing as they slowly made progress. Meanwhile, our older students showed off their skills, confidently keeping their balance and picking up speed like seasoned pros. For many, it was the highlight of the week: a calm yet exciting way to end five days of active fun.

While all that was happening, our VEX IQ Robotics campers were deeply immersed in the world of STEM. Each day brought new challenges as students designed, built, and programmed their own robots from the ground up. With a focus on problem-solving, innovation, and collaboration, campers worked in small teams to complete obstacle courses, refine their designs, and think like real engineers.
By Friday afternoon, they were ready to show off their hard work. Families joined us for a robotics demo, where each camper had a chance to present their robot and explain its function, design choices, and programming logic. It was amazing to see the confidence in their eyes as they shared what they had learned—and even more amazing to see how far they had come in just one week.
Week 7 was a perfect mix of action and imagination, competition and creativity. Whether campers were swinging a tennis racket, gliding across a lake, or coding a robot to complete a mission, they all left the week with new skills, new friendships, and stories to tell.
